Inspiration for my work comes primarily from desert landscape. I paint, inspired by natures raw, broken, eroded roughness with expressive color, exaggeration accompanied by a bold linear component. My paintings interpret aspects of the desert’s rarified beauty. The rough and abstracted quality of the paintings, reflect rugged qualities of Nature. I paint to access a reverential knowledge which can only be gained by time and observation and “told” using visual language via the physicality of paint. It is a knowledge beyond words, which is communicated through one's eyes. I have had collectors tell me that my paintings have helped them to see more color and beauty in the landscape when they visit the desert again.
